Indonesia's 2013 Defence Budget of USD8.1 billion means military expenditure in the nation has increased 82% since 2002. Furthermore, spending is predicted to reach USD18.2 billion by 2017. Unfortunately, much of the equipment the Indonesian Armed Forces needs to safeguard this sprawling nation's sovereignty is in dire need of replacement. Fortunately, this larger defence budget is enabling the Tentera Nasional Indonesia (TNI) to embark upon a shopping spree, and the air force is a major beneficiary.
