The first part of the book explains and describes the various sub-systems used in simulation and training systems. These are: Image generation including geographic data and map imagery; Visual display including principles of displays, monitors, projectors, displays up to and over 70° vertical view, and head mounted displays; Motion cuing; Simulator components including control devices, audio systems, touch devices, instrumented gloves, tracking sensors, eye trackers. The second part of the book describes complete systems according to intended user groups: land, sea, and air and concluding with multirole systems. Under each main heading are specific categories e.g. land systems includes air defence, anti-armour, direct and indirect fire, driver training, ranges and targets, small arms, weapons effects, maintenance of ground based systems. In each category products are arranged alphabetically by country of manufacture. Explanations of terms and technology are included at the beginning of some sections and subsections.
