Harvard International Review Summer 2011 Vol.XXXIII No.II, pp.23-27Summary: This article looks at the lessons that the United States can learn from the experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan and how the US can make changes in its foreign policy by making contributions to sharing and maintaining internationally agreed values, the buildup of democratic institutions, and the fostering of multilateralism. It suggests that the US must also nurture global networks, invest in education and health around the world, create new economic opportunities, participate in genuine dialogue with other cultures, and support shared global security if it seeks to ensure that it remains the most powerful country in the world.
