First published in 1992. This is an account by the Pakistani Brigadier General who, as Director General Inter-Services Intelligence 1980-1987, masterminded support and training of the Mujahideen in Afghanistan. The Mujahideen used thier local knowledge and outside support to defeat the vastly greater numerical and military might of the Soviet armed forces in the nine years of the Afghan War.
