Since 1945 defence projects in Britain have been affected by budget over runs and in service delays. This book considers the efforts made by successive governments to resolve these problems and suggests why such efforts have generally been unsuccessful. Concludes that there is no way to avoidl cost changes of inter-generational defence systems, but suggests that better research and development strategies could help control costs whilst projects are in development.
