Although described as a second edition this is very extensively revised with old chapters dropped and new ones with new authors in their place. The first three chapters cover the shift from strategic to security studies, realist international relations theory, and a critique of realism; later chapters cover non-traditional (or non military) security threats, casues of war, the new world order, transformation of war, nuclear strategy and emergent nuclear powers, terrorism and insurgency, interventions, great powers and the international system, and regional security and conflicts.
