Argues that despite American intervention security in the Persian Gulf is likely to be driven primarily by the national interests of the main participants especially Iran and Saudia Arabia, with Iraq taking a more passive role. Suggests the USA should stop trying to isolate Iran as this is viewed sceptically by regional states.
