This is a very readable historical review and commentary on guerilla wars and conflicts of the twentieth century. Ranging from the Boer War and the Philippines Wars to the Russian Afghan conflict 1979-1989. Other conflicts covered in the book include Algeria, Congo, Vietnam, Mexico, Russia, Ireland, China, Saudi Arabia, Yugoslavia, Burma, Sudan. Many accounts also describe the individuals associated with specific conflicts e.g. Mao and the Chinese Civil War, Lawrence and the Revolt in the desert, Orde Wingate and the Chindits in Burma.
