Summary, etc. The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) withdrew two marine battalions from the restive Aceh province days before a peace accord was signed in Helsinki with the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) on 15 August. Two army battalions began following course on August 22 as both Jakarta and the rebel movement begin adjusting to the new politico-military landscape.
