520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Despite being heavily committed to the use of information communications technology (ICT) the U.S. military appears to be ambivalent about social media. This article describes the controversy about use of social media by military personnel, and suggests that it shows although the role of established ICTs are central to success of military actions, new ICTs may be seen as disruptive and/or as threats. Notes that supporters of both sides employ "the dominant discourse of information age conflict" but have different understandings of "information as image/perception and information as data/commodity" and thus arrive at very different answers.
