520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The aim of this analysis is to determine the human factors, in peacetime, which make air force combat effective. The first 2 chapters establishthe importance of human factors and analyse peacetime culture and training. The last 2 chapters are mainly historical and deal with the enduring effects of war on the individual, and secondly, group performance in war. Much of the discussion covers organizational culture. It concludes that historically air forces have made similar and repeated mistakes in their preparation for combat.Human factor is ignored because of their slow rate of change compared to the quick posting cycle. Organisations too tend to have a singular theme which characterizes their view of themselves. |
