520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Examines the course design of UK's Advanced Command and Staff Course (ACSC) which followed the national strategic direction provided by the 2001 Defence Training Review (DTR). It has shown how the design of the post-DTR ACSC was informed by developments in how the Operational Level of war is understood and the changing nature of conflict and security. It has also outlined the design parameters, the focus on the intellectual skills set designed to enhance military decision making and problem solving. The emphasis on the development of skills to equip officers to deal with the thinking challenges presented by contemporary warfare was the driver behind the post-DTR ACSC's Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy (LTA): the establishment of what officers should learn, how they should learn it and how their achievement would be measured.
