Borders, mobility and technologies of control / edited by Sharon Pickering and Leanne Weber - Dordrecht : Springer, 2006 - xi, 222 p.

Borders are no longer simply the physically boundaries of states. The papers in this book look at how changing border perceptions are affecting criminological focus. Globalisation and the Internet affect jurisdiction concepts, while rising numbers of migrants are causing some states to redefine what counts as a border. Meanwhile new technologies (which although touted as neutral can in fact be highly biased) enable states to monitor individuals as never before; the logical conclusion of which, as described by philosopher Giorgio Agamben, is that for the state everyone is a potential danger.
