Terrorism and extremism in Southeast Asia have very strong local roots. The article discusses on the terrorism in Southeast Asia, the myth of the second front and regional terrorism is mainly local, not global. Since declaring Southeast Asia to be the second front in the war on terrorism in early 2002, Washington has stepped up its cooperation with ASEAN members in combating terrorism.
