Being a former coup plotter or alleged leader of a military mutiny is not a significant liability in Philippine politics. The May 2007 elections did not fundamentally alter the country's political landscape. The president's political position is more secure that her allies in the house of representatives and will be able to defeat any further moves to impeach her again which bodes well for political and economic stability in the short term.
