January 2006 North Korea's leader Kim Jong 11 and his economic chiefs took a secretive eight day tour of China's cities. During the tour he expressed his desire to take the North Korean economy out of its miserable conditions and to emulate China's approach to rapid industrialization. Finally support for reform needs to be sustained within the national leadership especially in the military.
