The second great war: a standard history, volume one - London: The Waverley Book Co. Ltd., n.d - 400p.

A nine volume encyclopaedia which reprints information originally published in the magazine "war Illustrated" produced in weekly (or fortnightly) parts as the war was in progress and thus providing a chronological history of the war. Each volume includes extensive illustrations, historic documents and maps, and numerous human interest snippets such as a photograph of children hiding in a slit trench in a field as the Battle of Britain is fought overhead. Each volume also has a cumulative subject index for all the preceeding volumes. Volume 2 is missing from the set.
