The dynamics of U.S. defense transformation and its policy implications for the ROK's security / Jin Hwoan Hwang - 2005

Following the 9-11 terrorist attacks the United States fundamentally changed its views on the kind of threats the country faced. National security strategy moved from industrial age to information age threats and underwent huge changes. Among these was the reorganization of US forces overseas. This article considers first the changes in US defense strategy, secondly the changes to US forces and capabilities in South Korea, and finally how the ROK is adapting to the new defence environment. Includes some policy options that the government of South Korea should consider.
