The Philippine navy (Hukbong Dagat ng Pilipinas: PN) is responsible for the country's formal and claimed territorial waters, including the manning and provisioning of the country's disputed islets in the Spratly chain. The PN is particularly active in southwestern Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago where insurgents frequently move between islands by sea. The PN is also tasked with supporting internal security operations that are often led by the Philippine Army (PA).
