The aim of this article is to demonstrate how an ethical theory or approach can be applied to military praxis in a comprehensive way. The complexities of waging war have increased the strategic, operational and tactical ends are often obscure and include such aims as "winning hearts and minds" the areas in which military operations are conducted are widely different from what soldiers are used to the dynamics differ from fighting large-scale groups of insurgents to individuals taking a pot-shot, and from bursts of intensive combat to periods of relative quietness.
