Dark victory: America's second war against Iraq

RECORD Jeffrey

Dark victory: America's second war against Iraq - Annapolis, MD, USA: Naval Institute Press, 2004 - 203p.

A full and critical analysis of the war to topple Saddam Hussein and its aftermath. Concludes that the war was unnecessary and damaging to long term U.S. interests. Argues there was no link between Saddam and bin Laden, and that even if Iraq had possessed WMD these it could have been deterred from using them. The outcome was not a victory in the war on terrorism but instead provided Islamic jihadists with new recruiting opportunities and a new front of operations against Americans (and by implication their allies).
