The main goal of this article is twofold. First it seeks to account for South Korea's distinct behaviors toward China since the end of the Cold War. Second, through the lens of South Korea's behaviors toward China the article assesses the relevance of major international relations theories for the evolving structure of East Asian security in the 21st century.
