Firstly, the article talks about the influence of different forms of domestic political dissent which determines the coup activity in dictatorial regimes i.e. the regime-changing coups as compared to reshuffling coups. This study focuses on domestic political violence such as terrorism as causes that often trigger coups where research has shown many dictatorships are likely targets of terrorist attacks.
