Authoritarian regimes against terrorism: lessons from China / Elena Pokalova - 2013

This article presents a case study of China, a regime that has been fighting Uyghur separatism and terrorism since its founding in 1949 with authoritarian means. The analysis illustrates how authoritarian regimes might not only be ineffective against threat of terrorism but can also construct threats that are greater than the initial challenges such regimes confront.
