This article argues the materiel challenge of replacing the AAV7A1 (assault amphibious vehicle)/defunct EFV can and should be met within a restricted budget and timeline. In order to do so, it covers three areas of discussion: 1) it will look at and refine the justification and requirements of any future vehicles; 2) at the potential solutions that can be used to meet these requirements; 3) how through a properly managed procurement process this vital materiel need can be met.
